American Walnut (Black Walnut) is highly prized for its dark-colored heartwood. American Walnut Worktops are very heavy and durable but yet are extremely workable ether by hand or power tools . Walnut wood has historically been used for gunstocks, furniture, flooring, paddles and a variety of other woodworking products.
Origins Of American Walnut: Black walnut or American walnut (Juglans nigra) is a species of flowering tree in the hickory family, Juglandaceae, that is native to eastern North America. It grows mostly in riparian zones, from southern Ontario, west to southeast South Dakota, south to Georgia, northern Florida and southwest to central Texas, Black Walnut was introduced into Europe in the seventeenth century and has a big presence in the European forestry industry.
Worktops are supplied in a blond state sanded to 150 grit ready to be oiled, cut and installed. We recommend that you add 1 bottle of Danish Oil per length of worktop. This would be enough for 3-5 coats.
