Installation & Care

Hardwood Worktops Planning, Installation and Care

Introduction

The range of solid hardwood worktops available provide a choice of different wood species, colours and thickness for use as worktop and surfacing materials in kitchens, bathrooms and other interior applications.

Worksurfaces come in choice of constructions and thicknesses:

In 27 & 40mm thicknesses, cut and shaped directly from timber laminated boards.

In thicker 60, 80 & 100mm fabrications, where the edges of the board are built up with rails and friezes.

The difference in constructions mean that there are variations in the range and types of feature that can be specified.

Because of this the two construction types are covered by specific and separate sections in both Part 1 and 2 of this guide. Part 3 of the guide explains details and options common to both types of hardwood worktop construction.

Every order is made-to-measure against drawings and specifications to suit the particular installation. The hardwood worktop parts will come cut to size, shaped, machined and finished with cut-outs, joints, etc, all made and ready to install.

Design requirements for the installation and all these parts are be provided by the specifier/customer in the form of dimensional and annotated drawings and any templates. A detailed quotation is then produced by the company and returned to the customer for approval. Once a price has been accepted and written confirmation has been given the order can proceed.

Bespoke hardwood worktop parts are supplied in a fully finished condition, all surfaces treated with work surface oil. This gives protection against dirt, moisture and provides good service in domestic kitchen conditions.

The finishing system is designed to be easy to maintain and repair, as even the toughest timber finish is going to need care and treatment from time to time.
