Mahogany

 


Mahogany is a deep, dark and rich wood with generally straight reddish-brown grain.  It is also extremely workable and durable. Because it was once a very rare wood it was used for hundreds of years only to make very fine pieces of furniture.  An example of one who recognized this woods quality and versatility was the famous classic furniture maker Chippendale.
