Teak

Teak wood is generally used in high end outdoor furniture, boat decks and other products where durability and weather resistance is a key factor.

Teak is easily worked and has a high natural oil content that protects it even when it is not oiled or varnished against the natural elements such as water and harsh sunlight.  With teak’s great attributes mentioned coupled to the fact that that it is also a very attractive wood with dark rich chocolate colours, straight grain and unique curved water mark patterns, it is the choice to make when durability and sophistication are the qualities your kitchen needs to project.

Origins of Teak: Teak (Tectona), is a genus of tropical hardwood trees in the family Verbenaceae, native to the south and southeast of Asia, and is commonly found as a component of monsoon forest vegetation. They are large trees, growing to 30-40 m tall, deciduous in the dry season.

Interesting fact Of TeakThe Chinese Ming Dynasty built their fleet of "junk" ships out of teak wood.
