Corner Joints
There are two options available as corner joints for your hardwood worktop. Pictured below are the Butt joint and the Mitre joint, although a matter of personal preference, it should be noted that the mitre joint requires a further 650mm of worksurface in order to achieve this.
There are three corner joint options available. A butt joint or scribe joint will be used depending on the edge detail specified, where a mitre joint is required please specify at the time of ordering.
Mitre joints are a matter of personal preference, but additional support will be required on site. It must also be remembered when costing, to allow the additional length of worksurface - ‘corner to corner’. |

Upstands
Upstands are available 40mm high in 3m lengths. It is most important that upstands are fixed to the wall and NOT to the worksurface. There should be a 3mm gap between the worksurface and upstand, the only connection between upstand and worksurface should be silicone sealant, allowing the natural movement of your worksurface. |

Care
CARE & MAINTENANCE
Although a solid timber worktop is virtually maintenance free, wood is a living product and the following the guidelines will help keep your worksurface in excellent condition.
AFTER INSTALLATION
Treat the worksurface for the first time as follows:
- Wipe surface with a damp cloth, then dry surface
For daily cleaning we recommend a solution of warm water and a drop of washing up liquid, soak a cloth in the solution, ring out and wipe the worksurface down.
- Dont use concentrated soap / detergent.
- Dont allow surplus water from wet cloths, cups, plates, vases etc. to remain on the worksurface.
- Dont leave wine glasses, dishes containing curry or wet copper-bottomed pans, sitting on your work surface, as is the case with all other worktops.
- Always wipe off detergents and chemical cleaners.

USEFUL TIPS
Wood Worksurfaces
· Don't remove shrink-wrap until installation date
· Store perfectly flat on dry, clean base
· Store at room temperature (16º - 20ºC)
· Install within 3 days of supply
· Re - seal all machined areas thoroughly especially around the sink
Corian
· Hot pans need to be placed on pan rests, platters or equivalent
· Coved upstands are fitted in a straight line
· Some colours may require a little more maintenance
· Veined colours are difficult to match
· A fine layer of dust will be inevitable for 24 hours after installation
· Joints are unobtrusive and seamless - v - not invisible
· Stainless steel undermounted sinks are fitted with a 5 - 8mm overhang
Granite
· God is the supplier - it is not man - made!
· It is natural product - not acrylic or plastic, there is no dye used in it
· The lighter the colour, the shorter the length ( especially upstands )
· Colour match is not always possible
· Samples provided in a 'kit form' (slips) when the front and back rails are too narrow, this can also be dependant on the colour and length of the worktop
· When installed, some tops may appear to vary in colour, this may be due to the 'reflectors' in the granite moving in two different plains (e.g.a L Shape) In this instance, the main colours to be aware of are Blue pearl and Emerald
· Hot pans should not be placed directly on the granite
Zodiaq
· Does not need sealing
· Hob and sink cut outs may need to be provided in a 'kit form' like granite but only on very rare occasions
· Zodiaq in 96% natural quartz and can contain very slight variations in colour content
· Do not place hot pans on the worktop
· Zodiaq can sometimes have a 'matt' appearance
· Recessed drainers may look slightly duller than the rest of the worksurface
· Joints may be more evident on brighter colours
· On polished edges crystals look more transparent and can give the appearance they are 'chips' in the material

The delivery driver was extremely helpful; it was a very large, heavy worktop, 4 metres long.
He walked in first and helped us rearrange the furniture in the route through the house, and in the kitchen where it was to be left to be oiled. Although we took some of the weight, he did most of the work. He was polite and courteous throughout and would not leave until we were happy with where it was positioned.
