QUESTION: Should I fit 600cm OR 62cm deep worktop?

ANSWER: IMPORTANT - Wooden Worktops react to constant daily changes in atmospheric moisture levels, the same as a jammed front door in winter. This is compensated for by installing deeper 620mm deep tops to allow for expansion and retraction. 600mm deep is fine for non breathing laminate or granite but strictly not recommended if you prefer hardwood as your chosen top. Though 600mm may initially appear cheaper it could prove far dearer in the long run should they retract back above the doors leaving no over hang. Simply put wood worktops will expand or retract to a greater or lesser degree 620mm accommodates this a 600mm economy top doesnÕt.
