Timber worksurface Installation Guide Section 3: preparation of 60, 80, & 100mm thick bespoke worksurfaces 3.1 Construction These tops have a hollow construction – supported on the underside with crossrails to hold the top flat, accommodate movement across the grain and allow the work-surface to be installed directly onto base units. The tops come with the crossrails fixed equidistant, at up to 600mm centres along the length of the top and adjacent to any sink and appliance cut-outs. |

3.2 Fixing The worksurface must be fixed down via the crossrails to the base unit ends (not to base unit front rails and not via the freizes or endgrain rails!). Reposition any crossrails as necessary before installation so that they will align with base unit ends. Make sure that the crossrails’ slotted fixings are not over- tightened and restrict the natural movement of the laminated worksurface. (See Part 2, Section 5 for worksurface installation.)
